Sunday 13 March

Good morning.

This week’s mailing is attached, along with an updated list for ‘Help for Ukraine’.

Please note on that list the requests are quite specific and they are only able to handle and use the goods requested.  Our thanks go to Ralph, Jennie and John Long (AKA Dodger) who took the first load to Taunton, and to all of you for the generosity shown. Please also note the Disasters Emergency Committee, who are able to use financial donations for many affected by the war in Ukraine.

We continue to pray for that situation, our churches are open, and in the next week I hope to get some resources into them that you and others might like to use.

This Sunday our worship is a Benefice Service of Holy Communion in Kingweston at 10:30am, with the choir.

The Benefice Council meets on Monday, so I expect that next week I will have details on our response to the lifting of restrictions in the country.

Best wishes

Sunday 6 March

Good afternoon

Welcome to the mailing for Sunday 6 March 2022.

Our worship this weekend is:

                8:30am Holy Communion Keinton Mandeville

10:30am Morning Prayer Lydford on Fosse.

Our Lent group starts on Monday [7th] in The Rectory at 2pm and 7:30pm

Joan Harland’s funeral and service of thanksgiving are tomorrow Friday 4 March 12:00pm in Lydford Church

William Stevens’ funeral is on Tuesday 8 March at 10:30am in Mendip Crematorium

Many of us will have been horrified watching the news from Ukraine and Jennie Cooper has been searching for a way that we can offer practical goods., She has now found out that there is something happening in Somerset with the Polish Community taking lorries to the border between Ukraine/Poland to deliver necessary items. She says: ‘I have managed to track down, and speak to the lady involved, through her employer. With the help of Ralph this is something I wish to do in some small way. I know there are deliveries planned for Saturday and next Wednesday and obviously some at the later date. I realise we will have to be quick for next week, which may prove impossible, but this is not going to be a short-term problem and help will be required for, sadly, a long time.’

A list of the items requested is attached to this email, if you’d like to donate then please leave any items in the back of Keinton, Barton or Kingweston Church. In Lydford please leave it with Jennie Cooper or Ralph Berry or at the weekend it can be left in church.

I have also attached a few prayers for Ukraine which we gave out (and used) last Sunday.

With my best wishes and prayers

Sunday 27 February

Good morning.

My apologies for the late arrival of this email, I’m not sure what happened to the one I wrote on Thursday!

However, that late arrival does enable me to add a letter from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York asking for our prayers for the Ukraine; obviously all our churches are open during the day and we will have time to do this in our services tomorrow and on Ash Wednesday.

Our worship this Sunday is:

8:30am Morning Prayer Lydford on Fosse (this is the service we will livestream)

10:30am Holy Communion Barton St David

4:00pm Faith ‘n fun Keinton Churchyard (or church if wet) pancakes and more!

Lent begins on Wednesday with our Ash Wednesday service of Holy Communion at 7.00pm in Lydford on Fosse, which will include ashing.

Services for 6 March are:

                8:30am Holy Communion Keinton Mandeville

10:30am Morning Prayer Lydford on Fosse.

Best wishes in these troubling times

Sunday 20 February

Good morning.

Please find attached the bulletin for this Sunday.

Our worship this week is:

8:30am Morning Prayer, Barton St David

10:30am Holy Communion, Kingweston, also livestreamed.

Following the introduction of sharing Communion as both bread and wine last week using small glasses, we have decided that we will continue with the interim distribution method every week (not just at Benefice services). We do not want to return to Communion in one kind only.

We announced last Sunday that Joan Harland, a long-time resident of East Lydford had died. On Friday 4 March there will be a private cremation, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving in St Peter’s, West Lydford at 12:00pm.

Sunday 27 February our worship is:

8:30am Morning Prayer, St Peter’s, West Lydford

10:30am Holy Communion, with thanksgiving for sound system, Barton St David

4:00pm Faith ‘n Fun Pancake party, St Mary Magdalene, Keinton

Wednesday 2 March

7:00pm Holy Communion for Ash Wednesday, St Peter’s, West Lydford.

With best wishes

Sunday 13 February

Good afternoon

Welcome to this week’s mailing.

The front page of the bulletin attached gives you information on how we’re going to share Communion Wine from this week. We are, unfortunately, not able to dedicate our new communion vessels as there has been a nationwide run on them, however we have interim provision for Benefice Services until such time as the vessels arrive.

Our worship this Sunday is a Benefice Service in Keinton Mandeville at 10:30am.

Please remember the Table Top sale in Keinton Village Hall on Saturday from 10:00am -2:00pm, so do come along to ensure this event is an opportunity for people from the community to gather together again after so long.

Sunday 20 February our worship is:

8:30am Morning Prayer Barton St David

             10:30am Holy Communion Kingweston.

The Lent Course begins on Monday 7 March, at 2pm and 7:30pm, then on Monday afternoons and Wednesday evenings from 14 and 16 March, in The Rectory. All are welcome.

Best wishes
