Sunday 20 March

Good afternoon

Please see this week’s notice sheet attached

At Benefice Council on Monday, we decided that the wearing of masks in church should now become voluntary. Whilst we recognise that there are some who will choose to continue to wear them whilst others will choose not to, given the lifting of all restrictions nationally a month ago we felt that the time had come to make this change.

We do still have notices in each church for you to use should you wish to have a space on the pew next to you.

Our worship this week is:

08:30am Holy Communion Barton St David

10:30am Morning Prayer Keinton Mandeville.

Next Sunday is Mothering Sunday. Our 10:30am worship will be an All-Age Interactive Service with Family choir in Barton St David.

08:30am will be Holy Communion in Lydford on Fosse.

Please note we are no longer collecting items for Ukraine.

Best wishes

Sunday 13 March

Good morning.

This week’s mailing is attached, along with an updated list for ‘Help for Ukraine’.

Please note on that list the requests are quite specific and they are only able to handle and use the goods requested.  Our thanks go to Ralph, Jennie and John Long (AKA Dodger) who took the first load to Taunton, and to all of you for the generosity shown. Please also note the Disasters Emergency Committee, who are able to use financial donations for many affected by the war in Ukraine.

We continue to pray for that situation, our churches are open, and in the next week I hope to get some resources into them that you and others might like to use.

This Sunday our worship is a Benefice Service of Holy Communion in Kingweston at 10:30am, with the choir.

The Benefice Council meets on Monday, so I expect that next week I will have details on our response to the lifting of restrictions in the country.

Best wishes

Sunday 6 March

Good afternoon

Welcome to the mailing for Sunday 6 March 2022.

Our worship this weekend is:

                8:30am Holy Communion Keinton Mandeville

10:30am Morning Prayer Lydford on Fosse.

Our Lent group starts on Monday [7th] in The Rectory at 2pm and 7:30pm

Joan Harland’s funeral and service of thanksgiving are tomorrow Friday 4 March 12:00pm in Lydford Church

William Stevens’ funeral is on Tuesday 8 March at 10:30am in Mendip Crematorium

Many of us will have been horrified watching the news from Ukraine and Jennie Cooper has been searching for a way that we can offer practical goods., She has now found out that there is something happening in Somerset with the Polish Community taking lorries to the border between Ukraine/Poland to deliver necessary items. She says: ‘I have managed to track down, and speak to the lady involved, through her employer. With the help of Ralph this is something I wish to do in some small way. I know there are deliveries planned for Saturday and next Wednesday and obviously some at the later date. I realise we will have to be quick for next week, which may prove impossible, but this is not going to be a short-term problem and help will be required for, sadly, a long time.’

A list of the items requested is attached to this email, if you’d like to donate then please leave any items in the back of Keinton, Barton or Kingweston Church. In Lydford please leave it with Jennie Cooper or Ralph Berry or at the weekend it can be left in church.

I have also attached a few prayers for Ukraine which we gave out (and used) last Sunday.

With my best wishes and prayers
