Sunday 13 November

Hello

This Sunday is Remembrance and our service is around the War Memorial in Lydford starting at 10:45am. On Armistice Day, 11 November, we will gather at Barton and Keinton War Memorials at 10:50am for Acts of Remembrance.

On Sunday, if you can bring your own chair please do, otherwise some chairs will be provided. Please note that since we’re meeting in the car park, there will only be disabled parking provided, others will need to park in the village.

This is my final Sunday before my time away from the Benefice. I will be working next week and expect to send out the bulletin next Thursday, but while we’re away it will be sent by Jane Sedgman, and I’ll be passing the address list onto her. I will assume that you’re content for this to happen, but if there is a problem then please let me know.

Rev David MacGeoch has just stood down as Area Dean and in his place Rev Ana Lawrence, the Rector of Street, has been appointed. I have been asked to be assistant Area Dean and Ana and I will both be licensed by Archdeacon Anne on Tuesday 15 November, at 9:30am in Shapwick Church. It will be a short service followed by refreshments. If you would like to come, please let me know.

The funeral of Diny Marshall of Keinton Mandeville will take place at Mendip Crematorium on Thursday 17 November at 11:30am.

With best wishes

Sunday 30 October

Hello

Please find attached this week’s bulletin.

Our worship on Sunday is:

8:30am Holy Communion, Keinton Mandeville

10:30am Morning Prayer, Lydford on Fosse

12:45pm Baptism Angus Blair, Barton St David

2:00pm Baptism of Millie-Lou and Harry Howley, Barton St David.

We are aware that there are a number of people who are finding it difficult to get to church, and so have discussed with Wheathill Community Transport the possibility of there being a driver available on a Sunday morning for the 10:30am service. This would be under the usual terms (booking through community transport and passenger paying the driver the agreed amount). If you would like to make use of this, then please phone Community Transport on the usual number (07799 487719 also available in the magazine) to enquire if a driver is available on the Sunday in question. This may be to take you to church in your village or another village in the Benefice.

Our worship on Remembrance Sunday will be in Lydford on Fosse, as last year we will be outside (hoping for good weather) so if appropriate for you please do bring a chair. There will be some available but, if you can bring yours, the church ones will go to those for whom it is difficult to bring their own!

Best wishes

Sunday 9 October

Hello everyone

My apologies for being a bit late today, I’m about to turn the computer off!

Our worship on Sunday is the Harvest Festival in Keinton Mandeville at 11am, all are welcome, this will be followed by the Harvest Lunch in Keinton Village Hall, please let Rachel [r.kaywillcox@gmail.com ]know if you are coming (along with any dietary requirements.

Lydford PCC this week wondered if there was any possibility of restarting the monthly lunch in the winter in Keinton Hall, probably as a simple soup and roll but giving people the opportunity to gather. If you’re interested in being a part of this project, could you please let me know in the first instance and I’ll pass on details so that we can see if it is possible.

I’m looking forward to rejoicing at the Harvest provision on Sunday. Rev Michele Kitto, who will be taking a number of the services whilst I’m away, is coming, as is Rev Collin Moore (to the lunch). Collin is the new Methodist Minister.

Best wishes
